Repertoire
I teach traditionally, mainly using the Suzuki books for beginners, but I also add other pieces and methods to help with cementing technique and sight reading. The most commonly used other books are by Carey Cheney, Rick Mooney, and Duport.
Prices
Weekly private lessons...
30 minutes: $15.00
45 minutes: $20.00
one hour: $25.00
I expect payment for the entire month on the first lesson of the month. Occasionally we can set up a pay-as-you-go plan, but you must tell me ahead of time.
If you are unable to attend a lesson, please call me as soon as you can! If I know in advance, I will credit the payment toward a future lesson. If you don't contact me, you forfeit the lesson. I will always let you know in advance if a conflict arises, so please show the same courtesy.
Whatever price you start at, you will continue with while you study with me. I will not raise the price on you.
Recitals
I try to have a recital at least annually to show what the students have learned. It is not a competitive event, but a fun one with treats after the performances. The last recital we had was a joint recital with the students of Seth Castleton on BYU campus, and it was a huge success.
Erica Hardy
I started playing the cello in elementary school and never stopped. I took lessons from Jamie Guy Kellogg for many years before moving to Utah. I was in the Phoenix Youth Symphony, which allowed me to travel to many fun places, including China, performing. I won an award from this guild allowing me to attend the NAU summer music camp, which is where I decided to study music in college. In April 2009, I graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, having studied under Julie Bevan and briefly with LaReita Berky. I played with the BYU Philharmonic for four years conducted by Kory Katseanes. I took several pedagogy classes with Bevan and Monica Call, who specializes in the Kodaly Method. I attended the National Cello Institute and observed amazing teachers, including Carey Cheney, Rick Mooney, Phyllis Young. I started teaching lessons in February of 2008 and have loved it ever since. I currently live in Provo, Utah, teach orchestra at a nearby elementary school, and play in the Utah Valley Symphony.
